Good -Life Devotional:

THE WHIRLWIND OF THE LORD

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

2 Thessalonians 1:6-8

[6] Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

[7]And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

[8]In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:"

  The message of the grace of God is about the deliverance of mankind from all kinds of evil including the wickedness born out of man's inhumanity against man. Believers are expected to invoke the judgement of God as written in the scriptures against the unrepentant wicked . This is how sanity is attained in the society ( Pslam 149;6-9)

   The Bible often speaks of God's righteous judgment against the wicked, depicting His fury as a whirlwind. Jeremiah 30:23 says, "Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goes forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of the wicked." This verse illustrates God's anger as a powerful and relentless force, targeting those who live in defiance of His will.

    Throughout the Bible, this imagery is consistent. Proverbs 10:25 states, "When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked are no more, but the righteous have an everlasting foundation." This contrast highlights that while God's judgment is severe against evil, those who seek righteousness are protected and preserved.

Isaiah 66:15 further emphasizes this idea: "For behold, the LORD will come with fire and with His chariots, like a whirlwind, to render His anger with fury, and His rebuke with flames of fire." Here, the whirlwind signifies not only God's judgment but also His purifying power, which eradicates sin and restores justice.

These passages remind us that God's fury against wickedness is not arbitrary but stems from His desire for righteousness and justice. It serves as a call to repentance and a warning of the consequences of living contrary to His commandments.

Prayer : Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to destroy the works of the evil one . Amen
