IMPERIALISM AND NEO-COLONIALISM: A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE (Part 1)

The yoke of oppression is being broken because of the anointing of God's favour upon you

Good -Life Devotional:

IMPERIALISM AND NEO-COLONIALISM: A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE (Part 1)

Definitions

IMPERIALISM: The policy of extending a nation’s authority by territorial acquisition or by establishing economic and political dominance over other nations.

NEO-COLONIALISM: The practice of using economic, cultural, or political pressures to control or influence a country, especially former colonies, without direct political rule.

1. GOD'S VIEW OF POWER AND NATIONS

The Bible acknowledges the existence of nations and rulers, but it places all authority under God's sovereign rule.

Daniel 2:21 (AMP): "He removes kings and establishes kings."

Psalm 22:28: "For the kingship and the kingdom are the Lord’s and He rules over the nations."

Earthly empires rise and fall, but God's kingdom is supreme and eternal. Any imperial ambition that disregards God's justice, mercy, and the dignity of people is ultimately self-destructive.

2. JUSTICE AND OPPRESSION

The Bible consistently condemns injustice, exploitation, and oppression:

Isaiah 10:1-2 (AMP): "Woe (judgment is coming) to those who enact unjust statutes... so as to deprive the needy of justice and rob the poor of My people of their rights."

Amos 5:24: "But let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream."

Imperialism and neo-colonialism often thrive through the exploitation of weaker nations’ resources and labor—something God opposes.

In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite and the establishment of ethical government in our nations .

PRAYERS:: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to resist oppression.
