Good -Life Devotional: GOD PRAYING TO GOD : A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE ( Part 1)

Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

GOD PRAYED TO GOD . A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE

The question of "God praying to God" in Jesus Christ often arises from a genuine curiosity or confusion about the nature of Jesus and the Trinity. This is a critical topic in Christian apologetics and touches on the mystery of the Incarnation and Trinitarian theology. Let’s unpack it in a way that addresses objections, clarifies theology, and affirms biblical truth.

1. THE COMMON OBJECTION:

"If Jesus is God, why does He pray? Isn’t that God talking to Himself?"

This question is often used to challenge the deity of Christ or the coherence of the Trinity. But this assumes a misunderstanding of both the nature of God and of the Incarnation.

2. THE BIBLICAL FRAMEWORK: JESUS PRAYED

Luke 5:16 (AMP): "But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray [in seclusion]."

John 17:1-5 (AMP): In His high priestly prayer, Jesus says, “Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, so that Your Son may glorify You…”

Matthew 26:39 (Gethsemane): "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me..."

These Are Clear Depictions Of Jesus praying to the father.

In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and revelation of his Spirit .

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome sin.
