Good -Life Devotional: THE PRESENCE OF IDOLS HINDERS THE MANIFESTATION OF GOD'S POWER

   A man struggled so much to make progress despite prayers and fastings . When he complained we prayed and  the lord said he was in possession of an item that hindered his breakthrough. When I asked he confirmed that he had a spiritual belt handed to him by his father who was a priest in a religion known for the worship of angels . We burnt it and after a little while he received his breakthrough. 

    Idolatry is a major obstacle to the manifestation of God's power. In 2 Chronicles 33:1–11, King Manasseh led Judah into deep rebellion by building altars to false gods, even placing idols in the house of the Lord. As a result, God’s presence withdrew, and judgment came upon the nation—Israel was handed over into bondage. God's power did not deliver them, for their hearts had turned to other gods.

Similarly, in Joshua 7, Israel was defeated at Ai because of Achan’s secret sin—he had taken what God called "accursed." Though Israel was strong, they could not prevail because an abomination lay hidden among them. The Lord declared, “You cannot stand before your enemies until you remove the accursed thing from among you” (Joshua 7:13).

In Ezekiel 14:3, God rebukes the elders of Israel for setting up idols in their hearts, warning that such inner rebellion blocks divine communication and favor. Isaiah 42:8 reminds us that God does not share His glory: “I am the Lord, that is My name; My glory I will not give to another.”

When idols—physical or spiritual—are present, they quench the Spirit's power. Only by returning to wholehearted worship can we see God's power fully manifest.

 In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and revelation of hidden Idols in our hearts that are hindering our breakthroughs.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome the fear of Idols.
