WHEN WICKEDNESS IS NOT SPEEDILY PUNISHED

The evil verdict against you shall be overturned because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good -Life Devotional: WHEN WICKEDNESS IS NOT SPEEDILY PUNISHED

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

“Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.” – Ecclesiastes 8:11 (AMP)

When evil is not swiftly addressed, wickedness increases. This truth is evident in society today. Ecclesiastes 8:11 reveals that delayed judgment emboldens sinners. Peter exemplified divine justice in Acts 5 when Ananias and Sapphira died instantly after lying to the Holy Spirit. Likewise, Paul pronounced judgment in 1 Corinthians 5, handing an immoral man to Satan for the destruction of his flesh. In Acts 13:7–11, Paul rebuked Elymas the sorcerer, who was struck with blindness for opposing the gospel.

God has positioned believers as salt and light (Matthew 5:13–16), spiritual enforcers of righteousness wherever they are. When Christians fail to pray judgmental prayers against unrepentant evil, darkness flourishes. Prayers like David's in Psalm 7:9 or imprecatory declarations (Psalm 94:1–2) are biblical when led by the Spirit and rooted in God's justice. This neglect has allowed corruption to infiltrate even the church.

The church should teach the fear of God (Ecclesiastes 12:13), but many modern preachers promote a grace that permits sin. This is a distortion. True grace, according to Titus 2:11–12, teaches believers to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. Hebrews 10:26–27 warns of judgment for willful sin, and Romans 1:18 declares that God’s wrath is revealed against all unrighteousness.

It is time for the church to uphold righteousness, confront sin, and be vessels of God's holy justice in a corrupt world.

In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and boldness to execute God's judgement on every wickedness.

PRAYER : Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to exercute divine judgement.
