Good -Life Devotional: RAISING CHILDREN WITHOUT SPIRITUAL GOALS BREEDS REBELLION

Proverbs 29:18 (AMP) says, “Where there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are unrestrained.” Today, many Christian parents raise their children with goals centered on academic success and career achievement. While these are important, they are not eternal. Hannah, however, understood God's purpose for her son. When she handed young Samuel to Eli (1 Samuel 1:27-28), her aim was not just a good life, but a life led by the Holy Spirit. By age twelve, Samuel was hearing from God directly (1 Samuel 3:1-10).

   In contrast, modern Christian homes often lack this spiritual intentionality. Ephesians 2:2 describes a world governed by “the prince of the power of the air”—Satan’s influence over systems and culture. Children raised without spiritual discipline become nominal Christians, led more by trends than truth. Their disinterest in God’s Word, their “itching ears” (2 Timothy 4:3), leaves them spiritually defenseless, vulnerable to failed relationships and broken homes.

Jesus clearly states our mission in John 15:16: “You did not choose Me but I chose you and appointed you that you might go and bear fruit...” Paul echoes this to Timothy: “Do the work of an evangelist” (2 Timothy 4:5). Evangelism is not optional; it’s the fruit of true discipleship.

Parents who neglect evangelism model a powerless Christianity. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 instructs us to teach God's Word diligently to our children. If we don’t set eternal goals, the world will set carnal ones—and rebellion will follow.

 In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and openness to discipline.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to build a godly family.
