Good -Life Devotional: NOT BY POWER, NOT BY MIGHT
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
Zechariah 4:6 declares, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord of hosts (AMP). This powerful statement reminds believers that victory is not achieved through human strength or ability, but through the Spirit of God. In Hebrew, "might" (chayil) implies strength, efficiency, wealth, or force—human resources. "Power" (koach) refers to natural ability, capacity, or stamina. Together, they represent everything man can do apart from God. Yet God says: “It’s not by these—but by My Spirit.”
Ephesians 3:20 echoes this truth: “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to His power that is at work within us.” This divine power—dunamis in Greek—works within the born-again believer, enabling us to go beyond training, experience, or natural limitation.
God never intended for us to rely solely on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). When David faced Goliath, he was untrained in warfare, yet God gave him victory (1 Samuel 17:45-50). When Peter healed the lame man, it wasn’t by skill but by faith in Jesus’ name (Acts 3:6-8). Like them, we draw strength from within—Christ in us, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).
Therefore, do not limit yourself. You are empowered supernaturally to do the impossible. Live by faith (Galatians 2:20), walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:25), and give God glory in all things.
In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and boldness to act in faith .
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome stagnation.
