HOW CAN GOD MAKE SIN THE DEFAULT, WHILE MAKING SALVATION A CHOICE?" ( Part 2)

You shall receive a sevenfold restoration of what was stolen from you because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good -Life Devotional; HOW CAN GOD MAKE SIN THE DEFAULT, WHILE MAKING SALVATION A CHOICE?" ( Part 2)

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

3. THE CONTRAST BETWEEN SIN AND SALVATION HIGHLIGHTS GOD’S JUSTICE AND MERCY

Sin being "default" highlights the reality of human brokenness and need for redemption.

Salvation being a choice upholds the principles of justice, grace, and love. God does not override our will but invites us into restoration.

Romans 5:18 says: “So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men.”

That’s not unfairness—it’s symmetry: just as sin entered through one man (Adam), salvation comes through one Man (Jesus), and is offered to all.

4. GOD'S SOVEREIGNTY DOES NOT ELIMINATE HUMAN RESPONSIBILITY

Some wrestle with whether God “ordained” sin. The Bible affirms both:

God is sovereign: He is never surprised.

Humans are responsible: We are not robots.

This is seen in Genesis 50:20, where Joseph says: “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” Even sinful choices can be used by God without Him being the author of sin.

5. A LOVING GOD RESPECTS HUMAN WILL

C. S. Lewis once said:

“There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, ‘Thy will be done,’ and those to whom God says, ‘Thy will be done.’”

God does not force people into heaven or hell. If salvation is a choice, it preserves the dignity of human will. If sin were not the consequence of freedom, then neither would righteousness be the result of love.

In Summary , God didn’t make sin the default; humanity chose rebellion.

Salvation is a freely offered gift, not an imposed outcome.

The contrast between sin and grace magnifies both human need and divine mercy.

God's justice and love work together to offer salvation to all without violating our freedom.

In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and guidance in our choices .

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome temptation.
