   Leviticus 24:2

'Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually.'

  The old testament worship involved the Illumination of the place of worship all year round . This has both spiritual and physical significance . It underscores the importance of electricity power in national development. 

   The area where our church is located ( Alcon road flyover beside hollifield jetty woji town port Harcourt) has been without electricity power for seven months . A team of tax collectors visited and I told them that some of the companies located there have folded up due to power failure. This has led to a loss in revenue to the government and increase in poverty in Nigeria. 

   A long-term failure in electricity supply can significantly impact a state's government across various sectors, including economic growth, governance, and societal well-being. Below are seven key effects, supported by Bible verses and notable philosophical quotes to provide both spiritual and intellectual perspectives.

1. Economic Decline

Persistent power outages cripple businesses, reducing productivity, and causing financial losses, leading to economic stagnation.

The bible says “In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.” — Proverbs 14:23. This suggests that without productive labor, economic stagnation follows.

   “Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants.” — Epictetus. A failing economy highlights the essential need for basic utilities like power.

2. Increased Poverty

   Lack of electricity impairs industries, agriculture, and commerce, leading to widespread poverty and unemployment and insecurity.

 The bible says “Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered.” — Proverbs 21:13. This verse emphasizes the need for responsible governance that responds to the needs of the disadvantaged.  “Poverty is the parent of revolution and crime.” — Aristotle. Chronic poverty due to power failures can destabilize society.

3. Reduced Healthcare Quality

Healthcare services are severely affected by unreliable electricity, leading to poor patient outcomes, equipment failure, and a higher mortality rate.

  The bible says “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.” — Revelation 21:4. Electricity helps alleviate suffering, thus failing in this duty prolongs pain and increases mortality. 

“It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.” — Mahatma Gandhi. Access to reliable power is essential to good healthcare.

  It is not village people that is behind your poverty but corrupt persons in the power sector and in your church prayers meetings and daily prayers seek for the replacement of these persons with competent and God-fearing people. Let psalm 35 and 2Thess 1: 6-8  be your guide in this regards in fighting this witchcraft. The bible says in  Micah 5:12

"And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers:"

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome evil manipulations.
