Good-Life Devotional:
THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION MUST BEGIN WITH PREACHERS
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
1 Corinthians 5:11-13
[11]But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
[12]For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
[13]But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person."
The bible in the aforementioned verses commands that we stay away from any preacher who is guilty of corrupt practices failure to do so will give Satan the advantage over us .
Corruption is a moral and spiritual plague that undermines societies, cripples economies, and breeds injustice. To combat this pervasive evil, the Church must rise as a beacon of righteousness, starting with preachers who are called to be guardians of truth and integrity. The Bible offers timeless principles that expose corruption and inspire righteousness, providing a foundation for societal transformation.
Preachers are tasked with embodying and teaching God’s standard for justice and integrity. Proverbs 29:2 declares, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.” Corruption thrives where spiritual leaders fail to challenge injustice and model godly character. Preachers must boldly rebuke sin and call leaders and followers alike to repentance (Isaiah 1:17, Micah 6:8).
The Apostle Paul exhorts believers to "abstain from all appearances of evil" (1 Thessalonians 5:22, AMP) and to "provide things honest in the sight of all men" (Romans 12:17). By teaching these values, preachers can nurture communities that reject corruption and uphold integrity.
The fight against corruption must begin in the pulpit, where God's Word inspires accountability and transformation. When preachers lead with integrity, they empower others to live righteously, creating a ripple effect that can cleanse even the most corrupt societies.
In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and for the deliverance of the church from corrupt preachers .
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to live in righteousness.
