GROWING SPIRITUALLY ( PART 1)

You shall not be stagnant but keep advancing in glory because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good -Life Devotional: GROWING SPIRITUALLY ( PART 1)

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

   James 5:17-18

'Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

[18]And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit."

The scripture says  Elijah was an ordinary man like us with extraordinary abilities that affected the climate and economy through his faith because of his spirituality and we too can attain such through spiritual growth.

Growing spiritually is essential for a fulfilling life because it deepens our connection to God, gives us strength in difficult times, and guides us to live with purpose. Spiritual growth allows us to understand God’s love and wisdom, shaping our lives to reflect His character. It involves seeking God daily, reading His Word, and building a relationship with Him through prayer and reflection.

The Bible reminds us of the importance of spiritual growth. In 2 Peter 3:18, we are encouraged to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (AMP), highlighting that spiritual maturity is a journey of continual learning. Similarly, Colossians 1:10 calls us to “walk in a manner worthy of the Lord…bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing in the knowledge of God” (AMP). Spiritual growth not only benefits us personally but also empowers us to be a positive influence on others.

As we grow spiritually, we develop a stronger foundation of faith. Philippians 1:6 assures us that “He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it” (AMP). Spiritual growth is a lifelong journey, and each step brings us closer to understanding God’s will and experiencing His peace.

In our daily prayers we should seek for a healthy appetite for God's word and prayerful habit needed to excel spiritually.
