You shall not be disgraced because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.
Good -Life Devotional:
AWAKE TO RIGHTEOUSNESS
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
Matthew 6:33
"]But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. '
The word righteousness is the Greek word :dikaiosunē' it means Equity of character or act .justification, It is God's way of doing things . Before taking any action ask if it is just and equitable. If not it is satanic no matter how much we garnish it .
Matthew 6:33 is not just an instruction but an assurance. Apologetically, it asserts that a life grounded in God’s values is not only morally fulfilling but practically wise. When God is prioritized, and His righteousness pursued, believers find stability and provision for their needs. This verse challenges both secular and religious readers to rethink where they place their ultimate trust.
"Awake to righteousness" calls us to rise from spiritual slumber and live in alignment with God’s standards. In 1 Corinthians 15:34 (AMP), Paul urges, "Awake to righteousness [and strive to live a life that consistently reflects godly character] and do not sin; for some of you have no knowledge of God [you are disgracefully ignorant of Him, and ignore His truths]. I say this to your shame." Here, "awake" implies coming to a full awareness of God’s righteousness, leaving behind sin and pursuing a life rooted in truth and virtue.
This awakening is essential, for righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ grants us the ability to stand confidently before God (2 Corinthians 5:21). By accepting His gift, we receive new identities as His children, empowered to reject sin and live holy lives.
When we "awake to righteousness," we develop a deeper understanding of God’s love and purpose. Romans 13:11-12 reminds us, "The night is almost gone and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light." We’re called to live awake and ready, clothed in righteousness, as reflections of Christ in a world in need of His light.
In our daily prayers we should seek to be embodiments of the righteousness nature of God before a dying world .
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive us for our sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome temptation.
