Good -Life Devotional:
GROWING SPIRITUALLY ( PART 4)
Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
4. Be Transformed by Renewing Your Mind
Romans 12:2 (AMP): "And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]."
2 Corinthians 3:18 (AMP): "And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit."
5. Be Humble and Repentant
2 Chronicles 7:14 (AMP): "And My people, who are called by My Name, humble themselves, and pray and seek (crave, require as a necessity) My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear [them] from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land."
James 4:10 (AMP): "Humble yourselves [with an attitude of repentance and insignificance] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up, He will give you purpose]."
6. Live a Life of Love and Service
1 John 4:7-8 (AMP): "Beloved, let us [unselfishly] love and seek the best for one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves [others] is born of God and knows God [through personal experience]. The one who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love."
Mark 10:45 (AMP): "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."
7. Grow in Community with Other Believers
Hebrews 10:24-25 (AMP): "And let us consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds, not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching."
Proverbs 27:17 (AMP): "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens [and influences] another [through discussion]."
8. Embrace the Fruit of the Spirit
Galatians 5:22-23 (AMP): "But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law."
Each of these principles, grounded in scripture, builds a foundation for spiritual growth. Letting the Word transform your heart, actions, and mind in alignment with God’s will helps you grow in faith, strength, and character as a follower of Christ.
In our daily prayers we should seek for a healthy appetite for God's word and zeal for worship and the ministry of the word .
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to preach the gospel. Amen
