HOW TO OVERCOME PORNOGRAPHIC ADDICTION

The stronghold of the evil addiction is broken because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.

Good-Life Devotional: HOW TO OVERCOME PORNOGRAPHIC ADDICTION

By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi

First seen it as an evil demonic enterprise designed to destroy your family . It is a witchcraft tool to imprison your soul (Nahum 3:4)

Overcoming an addiction to pornography is challenging but possible, especially with spiritual support. Here are some practical steps grounded in biblical guidance to help you on this journey:

1. ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND SEEK GOD'S HELP

Bible Verse: "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness." —1 John 1:9 (AMP)

Admit to yourself and to God that you need help. Recognizing the issue and bringing it to God in humility is the first step to freedom.

2. RENEW YOUR MIND

Bible Verse: "Do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind." —Romans 12:2 (AMP)

Replace unhealthy thoughts with God’s Word. Spend time reading the Bible, meditating on it, and filling your mind with truth rather than harmful content.  Memorise 1 Corinthians 6:18

"Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.' and say it out loud anytime the thought of porn comes .

3. PRACTICE SELF-CONTROL WITH THE HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIt

Bible Verse: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind [or self-control]." —2 Timothy 1:7 (AMP)

Self-control is essential in overcoming temptation. Ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen your ability to resist and redirect your thoughts when tempted. Praying in tongues while declaring the fruits of the spirit ( Galatians 5:22) daily destroys the hunger for porn .

4. REMOVE SOURCES OF TEMPTATION

Bible Verse: "If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away... if your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it away." —Matthew 5:29-30 (AMP)

Remove access to any materials, websites, or devices that make it easy to fall into temptation. Block friends that send you such materials and openly speaking about your deslike for pornographic materials. Set up boundaries to avoid situations where you may be tempted.

5. SEEK ACCOUNTABILITY AND SUPPORT

Bible Verse: "Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored." —James 5:16 (AMP)

Find a trusted friend: a mature Christian , family member, or support group with whom you can share your struggles. They can pray for you and provide encouragement on your journey. Be accountable to your spiritual leader.

6. FOCUS ON YOUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST

Bible Verse: "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith [adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God." —Galatians 2:20 (AMP)

Remember that your true identity is in Christ. Lean on His strength buy meditation on his word and praying in tongues and fasting at least a day in a week regularly knowing that through Him, you have the power to break free from addiction by the Holy Spirit.

Combining these steps with consistent prayer and Bible study can help you find victory over this struggle. Keep asking God for strength, and know that He is with you every step of the way.

In our daily prayers we should seek for a healthy appetite for God's word and protection from evil influence.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome temptation.
