The more the opposition against you the greater shall be your promotion because of the anointing of God's favour upon you.
Good -Life Devotional: THRIVING IN A CORRUPT SYSTEM WITHOUT COMPROMISING YOUR FAITH
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
Psalms 125:3 "For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity."
The above scripture shows the relationship between poverty and bad governance and immorality in society. Poverty is Satan's tool to lure God's people into immorality and cults . Bad governance creates a corrupt environment that results in poverty.
Living righteously in a corrupt system can be challenging, but biblical examples like Isaac in Gerar (Genesis 26) and Daniel in Babylon reveal principles for thriving without compromising faith. Here are some ways to do so:
1. DEPEND ON GOD’S PROVISION
Isaac obeyed God’s command to stay in Gerar despite famine and government opposition and inhumane policies. God blessed him with prosperity: “The Lord blessed him, and the man became rich” (Genesis 26:12-14, AMP). Trust God’s provision even in unfavorable conditions.
2. MAINTAIN INTEGRITY
Daniel refused to defile himself with Babylonian food, choosing a diet honoring God (Daniel 1:8). Uphold godly standards regardless of societal pressures. You must divine your limits for all to see.
3. WORK DILIGENTLY
Isaac re-dug wells his enemies had filled, demonstrating persistence and industry (Genesis 26:18-22). Excellence attracts God’s favor and human respect. Device easier ways on how to get difficult things done .
4. SEEK GOD’S WISDOM
Daniel relied on prayer for divine insight when interpreting Nebuchadnezzar’s dreams (Daniel 2:20-23). Seek God’s guidance for complex situations.
5. FOSTER PEACEFUL RELATIONSHIPS
Isaac avoided conflict with locals, choosing peace over retaliation (Genesis 26:22). “Blessed are the peacemakers” (Matthew 5:9). Be more diplomatic and less confrontational.
6. BOLDLY PROCLAIM FAITH
Daniel continued praying openly despite the decree against it (Daniel 6:10). Stand firm in your faith, trusting God’s protection.
By relying on God, working with integrity, and choosing peace, you can thrive in a corrupt system while glorifying God.
In our daily prayers we should seek for a healthy appetite for God's word and a strong will to live in righteousness.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome temptation.
