A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD OVER DEAD RELIGIOUS PRACTICES

   Many people mistake religious rituals for a genuine relationship with God, but Scripture reveals that the essence of faith lies in knowing Christ personally. Luke 24:25-31 illustrates this beautifully. The disciples on the road to Emmaus were immersed in their religious discussions about recent events but failed to recognize Jesus walking with them. It was only when He broke bread with them that "their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him" (v. 31). This moment underscores the insufficiency of religious knowledge alone—it is intimacy with Jesus that transforms.

  Paul echoes this in Philippians 3:10-11, expressing his desire to "know Christ—yes, to know the power of His resurrection and participation in His sufferings." Paul had experienced the emptiness of religious legalism and counted it as loss compared to the surpassing value of knowing Christ personally. This relationship is not built on external rituals but on a heart that seeks God earnestly.

   Colossians 2:18-23 warns against false humility, self-imposed worship, and rigid observances, which "lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence." These practices may appear spiritual but do not lead to true life in Christ. Instead, Jesus calls us to abide in Him (John 15:4-5) and worship in spirit and truth (John 4:23-24).

A living relationship with God transcends religious forms. It opens our eyes to His presence, renews our hearts, and aligns us with His will. True faith transforms; dead religion cannot. Seek to know Him deeply and live out that relationship daily.

 In our daily prayers we should seek a healthy appetite for God's word and the spirit of wisdom and revelation.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to preach the gospel.
