Good-Life Devotional:
TRUSTING GOD FOR YOUR FINANCES ( Part 1)
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
Deuteronomy 8:18
But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day."
This scripture says God made a covenant with Abraham to prosper believers . God is a covenant keeping God and this covenant is valid today .
Financial difficulties can be overwhelming, especially when it feels like the demands keep growing and resources are limited. The Bible offers encouragement and guidance for times like these, reminding us of God’s care, provision, and support when we face financial or material struggles. Here are a few verses that may help bring comfort and perspective:
1. ). Philippians 4:19 (Amplified Bible)
"And my God will liberally supply [fill until full] your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
This verse reassures believers that God, who owns all things, is more than able to meet our needs. While it may not always mean immediate financial relief, it does mean that God will provide in the way that He knows is best for us.
2.). Matthew 6:31-33
"Therefore do not worry or be anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted), saying, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ For the [pagan] Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; but do not worry, for your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also."
Jesus teaches that God is aware of our material needs and cares for us deeply. When we put God’s kingdom first, trusting Him with our needs, He promises to provide what we require. This doesn’t mean ignoring practical steps or budgeting, but rather keeping our trust in Him as the ultimate source of provision.
3. ). Psalm 37:25
"I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous [those in right standing with God] abandoned or his descendants pleading for bread."
This verse is a testimony from David’s life, reminding us that God’s provision has always been consistent for those who walk with Him. It serves as a promise of God’s faithfulness to provide for His people even in tough times.
4.) 2 Corinthians 9:8
"And God is able to make all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an abundance for every good work and act of charity."
This passage speaks to the “abundance” God provides, not only in material needs but also in grace, strength, and wisdom. It reminds us that even if we don’t see immediate wealth, God supplies what we need for each situation and for our ability to help others.
In our daily prayers we should seek for wisdom and humility to take the little steps needed to improve our conditions.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to get wealth.
