PRAYING AGAINST CORRUPTION IN SOCIETY: A BIBLICAL MANDATE

    The Bible emphasizes the responsibility of Christians to confront corruption through prayer and righteous living. God’s justice and holiness are uncompromising, and Scripture repeatedly highlights His power to expose and thwart the plans of the corrupt. Isaiah 44:25 declares that God “frustrates the signs of the liars and makes fools of diviners; who turns wise men backward and makes their knowledge foolish.” Similarly, Job 5:12 affirms, “He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success.” These verses reveal that God actively intervenes to dismantle wicked schemes.

   Christians must also pray against false preachers and fraudulent leaders who exploit others under the guise of righteousness. Jesus condemned such hypocrisy, stating, “You are of your father, the devil” (John 15:34, paraphrased). Psalm 35:1-8, 26 calls believers to invoke God’s justice, praying that the wicked face the consequences of their deceit.

   In the New Testament, the church demonstrated zero tolerance for corruption. Ananias and Sapphira, guilty of lying to the Holy Spirit, faced immediate judgment, resulting in great fear and reverence among believers (Acts 5:1-10). This fear of God led to the church’s growth in holiness and numbers.

    Fighting corruption through prayer and action invites the manifestation of God’s power and instills the fear of the Lord in society. As Christians stand against injustice and intercede for righteousness, the church flourishes, and God’s glory is revealed (Acts 5:11-14) 

PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to promote a righteous culture .
