Good -Life Devotional:
LET INTEGRITY AND UPRIGHTNESS PRESERVE ME
By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi
"Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for You" (Psalm 25:21, AMP). These words from King David reflect his deep dependence on God to safeguard him through righteous living. David’s life serves as a testament to this principle. In 1 Chronicles 18:6-7, God preserved him from his enemies because of his heart's desire to honor the Lord by building a house for Him. David further acknowledged God’s preservation in Psalm 32:7, calling the Lord his hiding place and deliverer.
In contrast, wicked rulers often seek to oppress the righteous, compelling them to compromise their faith through hardship. Psalm 125:3 declares, "For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land allotted to the righteous, lest the righteous reach out their hands to iniquity" (AMP). Similarly, Psalm 140:4 pleads for deliverance from evil men who plot against the upright. Despite such challenges, God’s preservation is evident throughout Scripture.
In Genesis 26, Isaac thrived in Gerar, a land of famine, because of God’s faithfulness. Like Isaac, the righteous today can trust God’s promise of preservation. The New Testament reinforces this assurance. In 2 Thessalonians 3:3, Paul declares, "But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one." Jesus Himself prayed for His disciples, asking the Father to "keep them from the evil one" (John 17:15).
Let us, therefore, walk in integrity and uprightness, trusting that God will preserve us amidst adversity, just as He preserved David, Isaac, and countless others.
In our daily prayers we should seek for a healthy appetite for God's word and resilience to trust God in adversity.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power to overcome temptation.
